Great Things Coming From Cicero

By Christopher Lepore, Staff Writer

Cicero’s Brennen Monk recorded two songs on Monday and these are the definition of DIY.  The songs were recorded with a Rock Band microphone.  Despite the low quality, this shows tremendous enthusiasm from a band that does not get the respect they deserve.  Both tracks are worth listening to.  I have a high respect for these guys and I really think they are on the path to something amazing!  Go show them some love and download their tunes at https://ciceroband.bandcamp.com/ and like them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ciceroband

Jack White Knows How to Put on a Show!

By Christopher Lepore, Staff Writer

Last night, Jack White staged a detailed, theatrical secret show in London with help from the Punchdrunk Theatre Group. White background for the show’s concept around his latest album, Lazaretto, which is defined as an isolation hospital for people with infectious diseases.

During the show, fans were given blue medical gowns to change into and eventually quarantined in a smoke-filled chamber. According to the Guardian, White then played a 30-minute set, which included “Lazaretto,” and The White Stripes’ “Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground” and “St. James Infirmary Blues.” To finish off the crazy night, White eventually succumbed to a mysterious disease and was strapped to a stretcher and taken away by an ambulance.

At the end of the show, fans were left with the gift of a personalized “prescription” from “Dr. White.” Photos from this post are from White’s label- “Third Man Records”

Goodnight Jack, don’t let the bed bugs bite

While speculation has been running that a special guest will be playing Warped Tour today in Ventura, CA, we can now confirm that the surprise guest will be the rock group Linkin Park. Linkin Park recently released their album, The Hunting Party, to acclaim from old-school Linkin Park fans and critics alike.

Kevin Lyman said in a tweet earlier today that there will be “special surprises today”. There had been rumors that one of those would be Linkin Park, but those reports were not confirmed by the band. However, just a few minutes ago Mike Shinoda from the band tweeted “Ventura, CA”. The band is in Ventura and will be playing Warped Tour today! Hopefully fans in Cali will be able to catch their set!

Foo Fighters Fans in for a Fun Year

By Christopher Lepore, Staff Writerimgres-1Fans watching the 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony this weekend on HBO were given a fun surprise preview of the highly anticipated HBO series Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways. The sneak peek, which is now viewable on HBO’s youtube account at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-z8A9P5ziA , features an exclusive Dave Grohl statement accompanied by the first passage of music to be revealed from the so far untitled eighth Foo Fighters album — out November on Roswell/RCA — and a glimpse of the HBO series documenting the eight-city journey of the record’s birth.

”I’ve pulled up the family tree of American music and exposed its roots to find inspiration for the next Foo Fighters album,” says Grohl.

If you are not excited for this, what the hell is wrong with you.  I have enjoyed the two documentary series I have watched with HBO (Hard Knocks and NHL’s 24/7 “Road to the Winter Classic”).  I have a lot of respect for HBO because of those two series and now DAVE “FREAKING” GROHL will be apart of one.  No one dislikes Dave Grohl, it is impossible.  He is funny, intense, and talented.  The guy can play every instrument in the world and he has charisma.  Something that can not be taught.  I don’t wanna jinx this, but there is snowball chance’s in hell that this will fail.  If I were you, I would be excited!

“Punk-fucking rock, intense, cuntastic, menstruation” is how the all-girl band Wonder Cunt from New Jersey describes themselves in one word. But do not call them a riot grrrl band. Their aggressive guitars, heart-stopping drums and destructive vocals only has them fall under one perfect category: a full-fledged punk band. They take what they do seriously but yet they’re having the time of their lives. I sat down with Wonder Cunt recently to talk about their start, where they are now, and what their future looks like.
